God Has Fulfilled His Promise!

89

There is a popular school of thought which asserts that the death, resurrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ were, for lack of a better term, "Plan B." This school of thought posits that when the Jews rejected their Messiah they overturned and irreparably damaged God's plan. This assertion is contrary to the plain declaration in the Scriptures. That is, it is contrary to God's inspired Word. Two sermons recorded in the Book of Acts clearly teach this: Acts 2 and today's text in chapter 13. Lest we think that this is merely a dry and boring debate between egg-headed theologians, there is much at stake regarding our hope, our confidence, and our theology. If the death and resurrection of Christ was not the fulfillment of the eternal decree of the Father, we can have no hope or confidence that He will be able to preserve us to the end. If He could not preserve His only-begotten Son during His incarnation, how could He preserve us? Gladly, the apostle's sermon declares the glorious truth that the death, burial, and resurrection were the plan all along.
