The Call of Abraham

The Old Testament is a great narrative to turn to and it is important to view the OT from the perspective of the New Testament. It is critical to view the OT through the NT spectacles. Then the OT promises given are found to be fulfilled through our Lord Jesus Christ. So it is with Abraham. As Paul teaches us, we are all the children of Abraham through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. The OT can be summarized by Faith. This is covered in Hebrews 11. When God calls Abraham it is through the Gospel. At the heart of what God calls him to do is that he will have a seed and that is Christ. The land God gives him is an everlasting Canaan, Heaven, fulfilled through the blood of Christ. It is important to consider this perspective as work our way through the call of Abraham, which Abraham faithfully obeyed. We look at this narrative from this perspective in more detail.
