Now, we do find Easter in the bible, in Acts 12, but it is presented as the pagan festival that it is, having nothing to do with the Jewish Passover.

Right now, the Roman Catholic Church is observing something that they call 'Holy Week', and it is loosely related to the events surrounding Jesus Christ being crucified, died, buried and risen again on the third day, as the bible says, according to the scriptures. But what the Catholics celebrated is decidedly not according to the scriptures.

"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep." 1 Corinthians 15:3-6 (KJB)

On this episode of Rightly Dividing, we are looking at the Roman Catholic 'Holy Week' in light of what the bible has to say about these things, and finding out what's right and what's not. I was a Roman Catholic for nearly 30 years, and how well I remember Ash Wednesday, Lent, no meat on Fridays, and of course, Easter. Now, we do find Easter in the bible, in Acts 12:4, but it is presented as the pagan festival that it is, having nothing to do with the Jewish Passover. Tonight we will demystify all these things for you, and examine the Roman Catholic 'holy week' in light of the preserved word of God.
