Judge Not?

People often use this text to say that we should not judge others. What does this text mean? Does it mean we are not to judge? No. We know Christ said elsewhere to judge righteous judgements. This text really means you need to be careful how you judge. This text teaches us how to relate to other sinful human beings. Our judgement of others is to be underpinned by these truths

1. I am a great sinner
   A beam renders you incapable of pulling a spec out of another person's eye. In the same way, sin renders us incapable pulling sin out of another person's life. We don't have the eyesight needed to deal with sin in the life of others, but we know one who does.

2. I have a great Savior
   This is a person who has perfect eyesight. He can see the sin we cannot. Only a person with no sin can remove sin. Here is one with perfect love that is capable of dealing with our sin.

3. I have a great testimony
   Our testimony is that we are a great sinner but we have a great Savior who can deal with sin.
