New Wine in New Wineskins
Series The Gospel of Luke
93
J.I. Packer summarized the biblical Gospel in three words; God saves sinners. This truth was controversial in the time of Jonah (Salvation is of the Lord - Jonah 2:9), in the time of Christ's first advent, and in our time as well. The implanting of a new heart by the Holy Spirit (regeneration) requires first the removal of the stony heart (Ezekiel 36:26), just as the putting on the new man includes the putting off of the old man (Ephesians 4:22-24). God's sovereign intervention in one's life upsets the status quo. In what ways is this change evident in your life?
I. The old has passed away (v. 27-32)
II. The new has come (v. 33-35)
III. The radical nature of the new (v. 36-39)
