Why is there persecution? When people's pride is pricked, they either humble themselves under God's Word or they become angry. Unchecked, that kind of anger grows into mindless rage. That is the rage that resulted in men murdering Stephen and also in attempting to murder the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the same kind of mindless fury that drove the swine to drown themselves in the Sea of Galilee.
