God's Faithfulness to His Church
Series Series in Jeremiah (2014-2017)
Aim: To be full beneficiaries of God's faithfulness—in Christ alone.
Doctrine: In Jesus, God fully keeps all His promises to His church. The Lord provides His children a Redeemer-King and the Savior's ministry.
Exegesis: How Christ fulfills God's faithfulness to His church: Jesus' incarnation guarantees that God's kingdom will flourish (vv. 19-22); Jesus' obedience guarantees that God's people will persevere (vv. 23-24); Jesus' resurrection guarantees that God's gift of faith will succeed (vv. 25-26).
Further application: How we enjoy God's faithfulness to His church: by being found in Christ, by faith, and by looking to proper evidences of faith.
Key verses: vv. 20-21a ''Thus says the LORD: If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night will not come at their appointed time, then also my covenant with David my servant may be broken...''
