The Mercy of God

This passage discusses David's kindness to the house of Saul. This picture shadows the mercy of God toward sinners. David was motivated to show mercy by obedience to the Lord just as we should. David reaches out to Mephibosheth whose name means "Shameful thing". This too is a picture of each one of us without Christ. Mephibosheth resides in Lo Debar - meaning "No pasture".
David calls Mephibosheth by name just as no one comes to the Father but by Him. We are left with the question, "Has He called you by name?".
