Remember salvation through Christ will get you into heaven, not any actions or good works you may do.
42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: This is coming to the conclusion of Jesus' ministry on earth. They either believe Him or they don't. They're either for Him or against Him. We each have to come to a decision in our lives, whether to accept Him or reject Him. These were the secret believers among the religious leaders. They didn't speak out because they'd lose their position in the world and be cast out. A lot of people are like this today. They would lose their jobs, their family, and their friends if they openly expressed belief in Jesus Christ. When you make a decision to believe in Christ, you may get ostracized by some people in your life, too. It is worth it to be ostracized by some in exchange for salvation from Jesus Christ and eternal in heaven with Him.
43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. If you want the praise of men, don't acknowledge Jesus Christ. If you want the praise of God, praise Jesus Christ. When you accept and acknowledge Jesus Christ, the world's view with change of you, they will treat you different. That's to be expected.
44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. Christ is having a very private conversation with His disciples and God Himself.
45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. Jesus has said many times, “if you've seen Me, you've seen the Father.”
