The Oath of the Glorious God

As the apostle nears the end of this chapter he gives a clear and full account of the assured truth of the promises of God even to the end. God's promises are confirmed by the oath of God; He swears by Himself because there is no higher level of confirmation than His integrity. They are founded in God's eternal counsel and they may be rested in and depended upon. God has not only given to His people His word and His seal but also His solemn oath. He gives us the example of Abraham, the father of the faithful.
