7. The Curious Girdle

The curious girdle of the ephod. This was a large belt or binding made from the same material as the ephod. Symbolically it represents the diligence with which Christ carries on his work as our Great High Priest. To be girded meant that one was ready for work. The girdle also strengthened the back during work. The curious girdle assures us that Christ is swift and strong to fulfil His priestly service on His people’s behalf.
