Right Division and Justification
Series Sermons from the Road
A superficial reading of short sound bites from scripture is often instrumental in leading men to the conclusion that the bible is full of contradictions. Yet the bible's own testimony is that it is not contradictory (John 10:35) and that with Spirit enabled study it can be rightly divided and properly understood in a way that is harmonious. To do this one must reason from the scriptures by taking care to set statements in their proper context to avoid the "contradictions" that would otherwise appear from the careless disregard for these important queues that shape and qualify the intent of the bible's statements. Never is this truth more on display than on the topic of justification. This sermon briefly examines how right division is employed to remove the "contradictions" that arise as a result of sound bite theology that ignores the context in favor of what people erroneously perceive to be the "plain meaning" of certain passages.
