A Faithful, Loyal, and Happy Servant

Blessings… when loyalty is not at a premium, it's refreshing to learn and glean from great examples of the past and present.

Good evening friends. Here's a little something to reflect upon.

Genesis is like an untapped field full of diamonds, rubies, and the rarest of jewels. Treasures in abundance can be found and enjoyed by the diligent explorer who will spend a little time digging into its wealth.

Can I encourage you to take a few minutes tonight and read a beautiful story? It will only take a few minutes to find and explore the entire message. Now, there's more to it, like all good stories, and it would be good to know somewhat of the backstory and outcome, but I think you can still glean from it without knowing it all. It's one of my favorites, for many reasons, but mainly because of the many parallels, unquestionable loyalty, and beautiful pictures of God's faithfulness. We can see Christ and His mission, His bride, and her surrender, and the delights found in being a faithful steward, who wants nothing more than what our Master wants. One who longs to see His cause and joy prosper. There's so much to drink and devour in just one chapter. If Genesis 24 blesses you, half as much as it has blessed me through the years, you are in for a real treat. Get your bucket ready, drop it in the heart of this book, and let God fill it up.

Jesus is the essence and example of all things God and His grace. His loyal love and stewardship are so beautifully portrayed in Abraham's servant. And we, also, pray we'll be faithful stewards of Jesus, like Eliezer, who wanted — more than anything — to honor Abraham and bless the God of Abraham, as he
