Woe to Oppressors

Assyria was the tool of God to chastise Israel and Judah. God often has used idolaters to destroy hypocrites.

Assyria, however, did not see itself as a tool of God, but proudly sought to assert its own greatness. This is as absurd as an axe thinking it chopped wood all by itself!

Assyria, as all oppressors, was eventually judged. So are oppressors today. Meanwhile, let us not think that somehow oppressors are out of the control of King Jesus. He uses them to destroy hypocrites and to bring out the beauty of true believers.
