How People Change Part 11

We are continuing the topical series titled “How People Change” and part of that is “why is it that we don’t change as Christians?” What we have seen is that if we are to grow in grace the way the Lord wants us to, it is important and essential to be engaged in “redemptive relationships”, that is, intentional relationships with other Christians in which we are wanting to help one another be more like Jesus. We have seen in Acts 20 the urgency with which Paul felt for the Ephesian Church when he exhorted their elders to shepherd them well. This idea of spiritual oversight is something that is essential. This is also something that has been weighing on the elders in our church.

In the last message, we began to look at a particular redemptive relationship, the relationship of the Christian with the elders in his church. We all need to be shepherded, that is have spiritual oversight, in order to change and grow in Christ’s likeness.

This week, we will look at 1 Peter 5, where the Apostle commands elders to shepherd and exercise oversight over the flock whom God has placed in their care, in the anticipation of Jesus’ return
