Called, Not Called Matthew 4:19
When we interact with Pastor Vallerian or the Gilberts (recent guests and Missionaries to Spain) we hear about their "calling" - a claim and conviction that God has placed upon their lives, that they recognize and want to obey...but what about the rest of us? We are not vocational ministers; in fact, we usually identify as something else - Nurse, Sales-Marketing-guy, Accountant, Engineer, IT Person, VP, Mom or Dad.
Are we strategically placed by God into circumstances for His purposes? Are roles like Nursery worker, choir member, clean-up crew, Sunday School teacher, usher truly callings? How about Elder or Deacon (they certainly sound very spiritual!) Our sense of calling is pivotal, it impacts our view of service to one another, especially in times when the path grows difficult. This morning we will look closer at our calling, our response, and the things God does through His "non-vocational servants."
