The Word of God in Action

The last couple of weeks we have been looking at Christ’s appearances after His resurrection. He came to seek His own, to comfort them and to commission them. They were to be His witnesses, yet they weren’t ready. They still didn’t understand and believe. He meets with them in different places and shows them: 1.) Who He is. 2.) That the crucifixion was the plan of God. 3.) That they had a job to do--to be witnesses. 4.) They still needed His promised blessing of the Holy Spirit and then 5.) they would be going forward with His authority to point people to the only way to heaven. This week we want to start looking at Peter’s response. Peter’s response is not only worth our time because it is in John’s gospel, but because we all too often are like Peter. Too quick to make claims that we don’t live out, too quick to open our mouth and say things that aren’t true and that we don’t understand, and lastly too quick to get discouraged and walk away. Join us as we continue to look at the Word of God, coming to us.
