THE THIRD SIGN: HEALING OF THE DISABLED MAN
SUBMITTING TO THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST

We must submit to the lordship of Jesus Christ!

By worshipping Him for His divine acts (1-9a)

Sovereignly choosing to show us grace (1-6)

Powerfully intervening in our hopelessness (7-9)

By worshipping Him for His divine nature (9b-18)

As the Lord of the Sabbath (9b-17)

The Jews oppose the man “taking up” his mat (9b-13)
Jesus opposes the man's current sin (14)
The Jews oppose Jesus for healing on the Sabbath (15-17)

As the Son of God (18)

The Jews seek to kill Jesus:
For breaking the Sabbath (18a)
For making Himself equal with God (18b)
