1. Why read the bible?

• Hebrews 4:2 - the Word of God is living, it is as relevant and real today as when it was written
• 2 Timothy 3:15-17 - if you want to be saved, need to listen to what the bible has to say
• Luke 8:21 - hearing/reading the Word should create action
• Psalm 19:7-11 - if we hear and obey God's Word, we can rely on God fulfilling His promises
• 1 Timothy 4:13 - the reading of Scripture is a vital part of worshipping God

2. The Parable of the Sower

• Mark 4:1-9, 14-20
• The sower = reader/speaker of God"s Words.
• The seed = Word of God
• Different types of listener:
  • The hard hearted listener
  • The shallow listener
  • The worldly listener
  • The worshipping listener
