After Luther dies, Rome and Charles V of the Holy Empire see an opportunity to stamp out Lutheranism. Their armies move and defeat the Protestants. Now what? Some felt that they should except the comprises offered by the Empire. Others so said "no" they must hold on to the all the Biblical teachings brought forward by Luther.
