Time and Eternity
Series Ecclesiastes
Purpose: To help the congregation gain a right understanding of this passage and thus to gain a right understanding of the events in time, and to draw out some implications of that understanding.
First, from verses 1-8, we have a description of everything in time. Then from verses 9-15, we have an interpretation of everything in time. So first, a description and then an interpretation of everything that takes place in time.
'Someday, the time to die, to kill, to weep, to mourn, to rend, to lose, to cast away, to hate, and to fight will forever be over, and we shall enjoy an eternity of laughter, of love and of peace. But for the time being, let's be encouraged that even in the midst of death and war and trouble and sorrow and pain, we have confidence that our Heavenly Father guides and protects us through them all, and uses them to make us more like His dear Son.'
