Mark didn't finish last week with verse 40, so he continued with it here. He is showing that God has laid out the challenge in this contest that says "it is all on the line". God wasn't worried about this. He who knows the end from the beginning, because He purposed the beginning, and the end. There was no fear in God of losing this contest.
