Gospel Faith and Practice

The Sermon on the Mount, as it is called, has been a happy hunting ground for liberals of all persuasions. Even some evangelicals have tended to regard it merely as an ethical essay. Some have missed the fact that these words came from the lips of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that they present a powerful exposition of the Gospel. The message of Christ is that the reach of the Gospel is to the soul first, and that those who are truly blessed are those in whose souls the Spirit of God has applied the power of the Gospel.
