There Are Taints On Matthew's Tree!

To us, reading a genealogy (unless it is our own family record) is painfully boring. It is like going through the scrolling credits at the end of a movie: we know each of the persons whose names appear deserve recognition for the part they played, but we do not see how they affect us.

Jesus' family tree, outlined in Matthew 1:1-17, is to many a list of boring “begats” – a series of almost unpronounceable names.

However, when we begin to examine this list that has been inserted by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, we quickly uncover some gems in Christ's genealogy - plus several taints on His family tree!
