Preparing Abraham

Abram is prepared, not by being placed in the line of Ham. Abram is prepared, not by being placed in the line of Japheth. No . . . Abram is prepared by being placed in line of Shem. The idea here is that of being placed in the line of the seed of the woman. There is only ONE seed, who would and did bruise the head of the serpent, and whose heal would be bruised in the process: the Lord Jesus Christ. But there is also the “seed” in the plural sense; in the sense of the children of God; the people of the promise; the covenant people of God. Thus, Abram is placed in such a way as to hear the promises, to receive the promises, and to heed the promises: Abram is being separated, and thus prepared.
