Baptized Into Christ

The Great Commission is to make disciples by proclaiming the Gospel of Christ (the historical Christ of the Bible). This is essential because, without His substitutionary work of redemption, there is no Gospel. It is by union with Christ that we are brought reconciled to the Triune God. Jesus is the door through which we enter into our saving relationship with God. Thus, even though we are baptized into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Paul can speak of us as having been baptized into Christ.
