It is because Christ loves us that we can love Him (cf. 1 John 4:19). The Christian, especially now, needs to understand that salvation for us includes good works. These good works do not save us, but salvation makes it possible to do them. Just as in marriage, we should want to do them because of all Christ gave up in order that we might have salvation.
