A Fully Sufficient Bible: Westminster Confession 1.6
Series Westminster Confession Faith
The Bible teaches all that God intends his people through the ages to know about how to be saved and how to live for him. Christ taught everything that he heard from his father. Paul declared the whole counsel of God. The Scriptures are able to make us perfect. They contain the faith once for all delivered to the saints. Therefore, the whole armor of God includes the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Therefore, nothing is to be added to what the Bible teaches, either explicity or by good and proper reasoning. All pretended revelations since the Apostolic era should be rejected because God's Word through his Son is his last word to us. Nevertheless, even though the Spirit does not inspire any new prophets, the Spirit is needed for a saving understanding of the Scriptures because sinful man will not receive the Spirit-given Word of God unless the same Spirit opens his eyes.
