Correction is Called For

Paul, using the illustration of himself as the spiritual father of these Corinthian believers, writes to get their attention and correct them as a father does his children. Having had the privilege of bringing the gospel to them, he also has the responsibility to address error he sees in their conduct. Believers cannot be indifferent to compromise and tolerant of sin as man's wisdom supposes.
Paul calls these believers to pattern their lives after his as he pursues living a life of godliness. They, like Paul will be able to do so by the power God supplies.
