Incarnation: One Messiah; Two Natures

70

Why did God become man? For man's salvation and to manifest his glory through the person and work of His Son. In Jesus we see the human face of God: the divine Son assumed human nature-he was fully God and fully man at the same time in one person. John 1:14 is the key to understanding the Incarnation: "The Word became flesh..."
The Word had to assume humanity in order to redeem humanity. God bought the church with his blood; i.e., with the blood of Jesus the human. Only God in Christ can save sinners; therefore, our relationship with God is totally connected to faith in and love for Jesus Christ.
