Faith and Confession

Our text is Romans 10:9-10. It says, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."

This is one of several texts in Paul's epistles where he sums up the gospel message in a simple, short sentence or two. Every now and then, in Paul's writings, he'll make a concise summary statement about the way of salvation, summing up the heart of the gospel in a simple, condensed statement.
