God's Faith-Promise

Aim: To believe the gospel so as to fulfill God's purposes.

Exegesis: Faith brings us God's promise of global victory. Faith, not law, justifies us before God (vv. 13-15) and unites us to God (v. 16). Faith brings us God's promise of miraculous victory. We are to believe God's word, not our sight (vv. 17-18), and God's assurances, not our weaknesses (vv. 19-22). Faith brings us God's promise of personal victory. We are to own (vv. 23-24a) and live (vv. 24b-25) Abraham's faith.

Key verses: vv. 20-21 ''[Abraham] did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.''
