Some of the early churches that were completely constituted of the believing Jewish remnant of Israel had a real problem. They were in a state of enmity against God, standing as enemies of God. James addresses them and their problem quite directly. In this text he cites the problem, the two root causes, the result, and the remedy. The remedy is comprised of the Ten Commandments of James. These commandments give the Christian the remedy necessary to be restored to friendship with God and as friends of God. If we find ourselves with a problem similar to these young Jewish churches all we need do is apply to these commandments.
