Pergamos and the Perils of Compromise

In the capital city of Asia Minor, we see the Lord has planted a church in the midst of perhaps the worst neighborhood possible: Pergamos. The church has stood strong and is commended for a few things, but the Lord Jesus Christ also identifies a glaring problem: compromise with the world. Not everyone is involved in the compromise, but everyone is called to repent - "or else". Holding forth the promises of life to those who overcome, the Lord seeks to awaken a church in crisis, and to refresh them.
