Listening To The Still Small Voice - Part 13 - Is Godliness Attainable?

21

After the great victory of Carmel and the humiliating defeat of fleeing before the threats of Jezebel, God revealed Himself to Elijah in the way of a “still, small voice” or as a sound of gentle blowing, not a wind that rent the rocks, or fiery mountains or great earthquakes. We often want the immediate and the spectacular, while God is faithfully doing His perfect work quietly, and in His own perfect time. His leading us is not in the way of yelling or shouting but of the gentle leading of His Holy Spirit Who indwells those who are born again. This is a study of the things that will help us to know when and how God is leading us to do His will. In this study we look at the wonderful work of godliness in our lives. In this study we try to see clearly just what godliness is all about and how it can change our thinking and our lives as we seek to live moment by moment in His will. Jesus Christ is the true well-spring of godliness. Godliness is not something that is reserved for just a few. Instead it is God's will and provision for every believer in Jesus Christ. We are told in God's Word to discipline ourselves for the purpose of godliness. Just like embarking on an exercise program, we are to pursue godliness and put in place by His grace all that is necessary to arrive at our own measure of godliness. It is attainable for the believer today?
