The Secret Things

People's bad theology leads them to say terrible things to those who are suffering.

But if we really study the Bible, we discover that there are three models for understanding reality:

1. The natural world,
2. The world of supernatural conflict between the LORD and Satan, and
3. The absolute sovereignty over everything.

As we look at the book of Job, several things are very plain:

1. Job's "comforters" spoke error (Job 42:7),
2. There is no evidence that Job knows that it is Satan who is afflicting him.
3. God sovereignly ordained all of this for Job's welfare (Job 42:10-17 ), just as he does for us (Romans 8:28-29).

Unless God pulls back the curtain, we cannot know the real reasons why things happen.
