The Rejoicing Church
Series Series in Jeremiah (2014-2017)
Aim: To be joyful saints—because of God's goodness to the church in Jesus.
Doctrine: The revived church brings goodness to the whole world, because she is God's true glory on the earth and God's only conduit of Jesus' life to the globe.
Exegesis: Gracious traits of the rejoicing church: she is united in Christ's mercies (vv. 7-9); she is satisfied in Christ's abundance (vv. 10-12); she is strong in Christ's love (vv. 13-14).
Further application: How to partake of the rejoicing church: let us pray for her reformation and revival, and prepare our hearts for answers to our prayers.
Key verse: v. 13 ''Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy; I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow.''
