6 God Creates Life on Earth The Nephish

104 ( 74 | 30 )

This is a common biblical statement is related to God causing something to happen. In His creative will He marks the beginning of the fifth day of creation. It is therefore said that “God spoke” and the creation came into existence. This day begins to fill the creation on day two, which God caused to come into being. Here he creates the sea and bird life. The Hebrew word for living or soul is Nephish It refers to the fact that there is some

consciousness with these creatures as opposed to the plant life.
The great sea monsters here is a Hebrew word taninim הַתַּנִּינִ֖ם It is found ten times in the Old Testament: Genesis 1: 21; Exodus 7: 9; 7: 10; Deuteronomy 32: 33; Psalms 74: 13-14, 91: 13, 148:7; Ezekiel 29: 3 and 32: 2. The Taninim are singled out for special attention here. The pagans in Canaan worshipped the great sea monsters as dragons and monsters in rebellion. The ancient Canaanites called this sea-monster Lotan. The ancient Hebrews knew that this was myth because God said “vaiyomer Elohim” that He created them. This is just one instance of how God had set apart His holy people to know the truth and not be led into the superstitions of the pagan country wherein they lived.
This is also the first instance of God speaking to someone else. God blessed the birds and sea creatures. The medieval Jewish rabbis believed that God blessed them since they would be hunted and eaten later.
It is important to understand that this was the creative effort of our God.
