The 2nd Commandment deals with the danger of worshipping the true God in the wrong way. It forbids the physical representation of God because our worship is heart worship.
This commandment reminds us that true worship is not just a matter of taste and of what suits the situation. It can only be rightly done as God has laid down in His word.
