Stewardship “Ten Biblical Principles of Finances”

If God cannot trust you with the physical finances, money, that he gives you, he will not trust you with eternal riches. It is very important for us to have a good Biblical perspective about money.

  • 70% of divorces are caused by financial problems and frustration
  • 90% of arguments in the home have to do with money.
  • The average American has a financial crises every 2 years.
  • The average American spends 110% of his annual income.
  • 90% of all bankruptcies are family, not corporate.
  • 50% of Americans live hand-to-mouth.
  • ½ of all sickness results from stress, and ½ of that stress is caused by finances.
  • Jesus refers to material things in 16 out of 36 parables.
  • There are 500 references to prayer, but 2,000 references to money in the Bible.
  • In the synoptic gospels, 1 out of every 4 verses is about material things and finances.
  • Over 100 references to finances in the book of Proverbs alone.
  1. Recognize that God is the source of all that we have.
  2. Give proportionately to the Lord.
  3. Keep a budget
  4. Become debt free.
  5. Live on a margin. Prov 6:6-8.
  6. Be content. Matt 6:25-33, Heb 13:5
  7. Be careful about co-signing.
  8. Save
  9. Work Hard!
  10. Keep your eyes on the Lord.
