Israel's Prophets Point to Christ

Bringing our journey through the first two chapters of Matthew's Gospel to a close, we will see a number of Old Testament prophecies which find fulfillment in the events surrounding the birth of Christ. These events demonstrate how Christ retells Israel's story while also fulfilling it. He is the faithful servant, who came out of Israel, faithfully enduring temptation in the wilderness. He is the one who will bring consolation to those weeping since He is the Heir of David's throne; the One bringing the new covenant promised in Jeremiah 31.
