Delightful Dangerous Words

It is a huge privilege to hear God speaking, but as His words fall upon your ear, they are also very dangerous. Listening to Jesus' parables may have seemed quite ordinary, but how dreadful for people who hear them and ignore or reject what God is saying through them! What a dreadful responsibility with fearful consequences. The day will come when the privilege of opportunity is withdrawn and there will be no remedy for those who failed to take hold of it. One way to miss this opportunity is to simply not pay attention. Or you could be really enthusiastic about it, but then lose interest soon afterwards when it becomes inconvenient. Antoher way to be destroyed is to become excited about the word of God, but then become consumed with other concerns--the word can be choked out. You care about your body more than you care about your soul; and that is insane! The problem here is you, the hearer, not the seed--the Word. In contrast, there are those who cling to God's word. These, by the power of God, become God's mighty oaks.
