A Call to Hearing

31

This message deals with verses 25 and 26, a warning against refusing to hear Christ, who is speaking today through His Word and by His Spirit.
The greater the privilege that a believer has from God in the grace-age, the greater his responsibility to heed the instructions given and fulfill those instructions by faithful obedience.

The threats are real and failure to hear Christ has eternal consequences. As with many such warning in Hebrews, the listening believer (true believer) will heed them because of enabling grace. They must not be taken as threats to one's eternal security.

The ignorance of grace is appalling in this age. Grace is seen a protection to sin and selfish living. Rather, we must understand grace as enabling and encouraging struggling and often stumbling believers in their fight against the flesh in the pursuit of holiness.
