The agency of the Spirit is central to Mark's account of Jesus' baptism. John, the second Elijah, prepares the way for the Spirit-filled Jesus to receive the seal of God's approval. As we see how the Spirit grants knowledge and power, we should desire to receive the Spirit ourselves through the greater baptism of Jesus.
