From Fear to Joy

368 ( 182 | 186 )

"From now on all generations will call me blessed."
These are the words of a young Jewish woman blessed with the most wonderful calling any woman could ever receive - to give birth to the Holy Son of God. Only one small problem - she is not married but only engaged to be married. A pregnancy in such circumstances in her day and culture was anathema, yet Mary's faith, not withstanding a measure of apprehension, was willing to embrace what seemed impossible. "I am the Lord's servant...May it be to me as you have said." The prophetic confirmation that was given to Mary through her relative Elizabeth brought faith to such certainty that Mary could not but glorify the Lord. Her magnifying of God was the richer for the joy that flooded her being praising God for all His works. The same Spirit that filled Mary and Elizabeth longs to bring the same certainty of faith and God glorifying joy into our lives even when we are facing what appear to be impossible circumstances.
