God's Righteousness

For our second hour service, Pastor Simpson continued in our study on the word "saved". The Scriptures use this word in multiple ways and is not always speaking of spiritual rebirth. It is not as if we should pray that the non-elect would become elect, but that the would come to the light. Those antagonistic against the doctrine of election would say, if God has elected only a certain few, why pray for them? The answer seems clear; we do not know who is and who is not elect so we pray that God will save those we love from their ignorance and bring them to salvation. In contrast the elect could ask why those that deny election, pray that God would "save" their "lost loved ones" if the decision is left to the sinner in question? The elect that pray this prayer believe God is able to affect the heart of those among us that would deny salvation and election. www.ProvidenceUnderGrace.com
