A Diligent Hand and a Servant's Heart - Part One

66

I want to ask you a question that will reveal your heart this morning. Are you a servant, or are you just a spectator? In our modern day, many people are looking for a place where they can be entertained. Many people in churches are so well fed, but they are strangely so spiritually dead. God has not called us out of darkness to entertain us, or to satisfy our itching ears. He has called us each one of us in the Body to ministries of service. Christianity is not a spectator's sport. The most spiritually deadly thing that you can do is to simply “attend church”. A spectator is simply a “hearer of the Word” only and not a doer of Christ's work (James 1:22-25). We are not called to attend the church, but to “be the church”. The church is the hands, arms, and feet of the Lord Jesus. We are not called to be spectators but servants. We are called, as our text says, to “serve the Lord with gladness” (Psalm 100:2).
