Be Strong and Courageous

We launch this week into the narrative itself, and the things that God says, through His servant Joshua, as Israel prepares to enter into the land, which was promised to them. They would inherit a wide and bountiful land, which they were to take possession of by God's ordained means of driving out the nations of the wicked, and through faithful worship of the God who had made covenant with them, Yahweh. In these opening verses we see the favor of God continue through the calling of Joshua, the promise of a good land, and the call to wage war and worship there, without fear, for the Lord would lead them in the way.
