This sermon focuses on the results of the November 6, 2012, Presidential election. It is preached two days before, rather than five days after the election, in order to say things that need to be said without appearing to engage in partisan chortling or partisan grief.

There are three powerful spheres that will determine this Presidential election:

  1. Within the natural realm, human beings will vote, and there is sure to be some fraud, voter suppression, and miscounting.

  2. Within the world of supernatural conflict, Satan rewards those who bow to him. He gives power and glory to those who compromise their fundamental values and ethics..

  3. Within the sphere of the sovereignty of God, God ultimately puts into power whom he wills, and Tuesday's vote will happen as part of God's plan for the world.

What should be our response regardless of who wins?

We must be able to lift up holy hands in prayer, without wrath and without doubting.

If we hate the President, our prayers are hindered. If we hate the winner, our prayers are hindered. If we doubt God's goodness and absolute sovereignty, our prayers are hindered.
