God Used a Traffic Fatality

105

Sunday, November 1, at about 4:40 PM, as I pulled into the church parking lot, a fire truck rolled Code-3 past the church. Five minutes earlier, Katy Burkhead's life came to a sudden, violent, and tragic end. A state trooper attempted to pull Katy (31) over. Instead of complying, Katy fled. Just west of Kimberly/Wisconsin, Katy lost control of her car, crossed into the opposing lane, and was hit broadside by an oncoming car. She died at the scene. The other driver (Emilie) was hospitalized.

Katy left behind a young son.

I went to the scene the next day with my "Stop and Talk" cross and gospel signs. I leaned my cross against the front of my car, just off the roadway, an I held the signs for passing motorists to see.

About an hour into my time on the side of the road, a car slowly approached from the west, coming almost to a complete stop in front of me.

"Stop using her death as propoganda!" The driver angrily shouted.

"Stop and talk to me. Don't do a drive-by!" I shouted back.

"Okay!" He replied.

He turned down the side street, parked a short distance a way, and marched toward me. His name was Brian.
